A noobie question
Hello everyone, I've been looking into PS1 homebrew and I've been wondering, will I be able to play PS1 homebrew on the PS3?

If your PS3 is running a custom firmware, than probably yes. If it's running the official one, then no... In any case, if it works, it'll be using Sonys crappy PS1 emulator.Samkrfc wrote:Hello everyone, I've been looking into PS1 homebrew and I've been wondering, will I be able to play PS1 homebrew on the PS3?
What about one of those 'test' development PS3s?
It's:Gradius wrote:No offense, but what ps3 has to do with PSX/PS1 ?

- designed to play commercial PS1 games.

PSX/PS1 on ps3 totally sucks. I know because I have PSX, PS2 and PS3 and can compare them all with REAL hardwares, not crappy software-bug emulated.
PSX on ps3:
- The colors are all WRONG;
- The emulation isn't even near of a REAL psx;
- A lot BUGS;
- Can't run all games, just a few of them;
- Other limitations.

Yes, the PSX emulation on the PS3 is absolutely shit. Sony should have hired NO$CASH

Good, so we all agree that if we were to take a poll "does the PS3 have anything to do with PSX/PS1" then the overwhelming answer would be 'yes'.
Putting that unhelpful detour aside the question stands: does the PS3's PS1 emulator, of whatever quality, run CDRs if the console itself is a developer/test unit?

As far as i know, it runs fine. Personally i've only run my game on ePSXe , a real PSX and a OUYA . Suprisingly i perfer the OUYA. It's easy plug & play once u get the free filepwn manager. I know my game also runs on a PSP. Honestly, anything that runs a Playstation game is cool with me as long as it can be played.
