Re: UniROM V6 - New stuff and things.
Would it be possible to add something to change/force the video mode output for the loaded game into UniROM please? e.g. I want to play a PAL game in NTSC mode or vice-versa. I know it's unstable for a lot of games but it's been fun testing. Mostly would like to try original PAL releases in a more c...

Re: Xplorer carts
Hi everybody. I wanted to try unirom, because I don't have a modchip in my scph 1002. I bought xplorer fx, it has a date on the box 3/5/99 and it (is?)/was 512kb. I've downloaded unirom, burned the CD and tried to flash the cartridge but upgrade hanged and I had to restart PS. The flashing went wro...

Re: UniROM 0.44 - Bugfixes, woo!
I read somewhere that region cannot be bypassed , such a shame for us terrified to solder The CAETLA rom will allow you to bypass region locks, as well as any other swapping method for that matter if you're not comfortable with soldering Won't help with in-game disc swaps for verification / content...

Re: UniROM 0.44 - Bugfixes, woo!
Salutations What device for parallel port must I shop for to install this UniROM ..? All I wish to do is play Metal Gear Integral , also will need disc swap if that is hopeful working Any Caetla device supporting the CD-ROM browse function should be able to boot Integral / Special Missions without ...

Re: Xplorer carts
Why do you have 29LE020 chips in there? The datasheet says – 5.0V-only for SST29EE020 – 3.0-3.6V for SST29LE020 – 2.7-3.6V for SST29VE020 The "LE" chip would be actually better for the PSX voltages... but the Xplorer carts are using 5V supply for all chips. Unless you have a differe...

Re: Xplorer carts
I've had identification issues with the LE one, you're quite correct. Verified it though on the chips themselves: http://i.imgur.com/EC2Fm9n.jpg I'll get updated photos soon. Oh if it makes a difference, the non LE Xplorer FX one was a preorder via Gameplay.com (UK e-tailer, remember them?) so was o...

Re: Xplorer carts
Glad to see you could fix everything. :) Yes put the third one in a secure place as it's getting easy when you have multiple carts to mix them up and flash the wrong one :? Just to make sure, that third one you got is also a double banked one ? And did you dump it ? All 3 are SST double-banked cart...

Re: UniROM 0.44 - Bugfixes, woo!
It's likely a game checking for "Cheat cartridges or region bypass devices" (Pretty much just Caetla & early FCD ROM variants). Such methods are more common on licensed games late-1998 & onwards. I think the original intention was to mostly stop people importing games but then burn...

Re: Xplorer carts
Cheers for all your efforts Squaresoft74. I've managed to source another Xplorer FX from Germany (these are getting harder to come by when you actually need one). I used the swap method to resurrect both carts, then flash one back to UniROM. I'm going to box the latest one up with a label to somethi...

Re: Xplorer carts
Ok i tried the method from the link i gave and that didn't work. I made a backup of my rom, then cut it to 256k and saved it as "Fix.rom" Try to flash it either : From X-Flash CD with the rom on disc. or Using X-Killer but booting from X-Flash disc first without the cartridge plugged in. ...

Re: Xplorer carts
Could you please upload a blank codelist to a 4.52 UK rom please then capture via Xkiller & see if the Rom size decreases?
I think I'm right and you can get it down to 260~275kb, which should be enough to let Xlink flash a double bank back to 4.52.

Are they original .fcd files or rom dumps ? While i should have those already, can you check against my list bel...

Re: UniROM 0.2 [new menu, nocash unlock, fastboot]
Aww jeez... off the top of my head, XLink (PC) works with XFlash + Xplorer Rom, but it doesn't work the other way around ( XLink won't talk to the XFlash CD). I don't *think* caetla has so many of the in-game features, like cheat searching and all that, you could possibly do it via catflap or XFlas...

Re: UniROM 0.2 [new menu, nocash unlock, fastboot]
This is something I've really been wanting to look into actually... Somehow, the Xplorer carts all let you do live in-game cheat engine style searches while the game was running, and I've not gotten to the bottom of this yet (or how the cheats are actually applied!). My best guess for the moment is...

Re: UniROM 0.2 [new menu, nocash unlock, fastboot]
This is why I was considering the plugin option, you'd just name PS1CardLink to plugin.exe, run "add_plugin.bat" or whatever, and upload "unirom_caetla_plus_plugin.rom" That way you could have XLink,PSXSerial,PS1CardLink and MCLauncher all on the one cart, which seems pretty awe...
